To Explore the Underwater World of Frenchman Bay;
To Kiss Creatures Which Have Never Been Kissed;
To Bring the Wonder of the Underwater To You…
This is the Mission of the Starfish Enterprise.
Come with Diver Ed aboard the Starfish Enterprise for an Amazing Dive-In Theater Adventure!
Diver Ed’s Dive-In Theater is a two- or two-and-a-half-hour scenic boat ride out into Frenchman Bay in Acadia National Park, where Diver Ed & his sidekick “Mini Ed” dive down to the ocean floor with specially equipped video and sound equipment, allowing you to see and hear the ocean floor in real time from the comfort of the deck.
At the end of the dive, Ed & Mini Ed return to the boat – and so do the creatures! Touch tanks allow you to observe, handle – and sometimes even kiss – these strange and mysterious beings before they are returned safely to the sea. You will be amazed at the colors, the textures and the variety of animal life beneath the waves.
Let Diver Ed and a Park Ranger Introduce You To Frenchman Bay!
Twice a week we invite an Acadia National Park Ranger to join us on the Dive-In Theater. These trips are geared toward our adult passengers, although children are always welcome. Diver Ed still goes under water with his camera to bring you amazing images of the sea life in Frenchman Bay. The Park Ranger points out life topside. The Park Ranger trip goes farther and to different places in Frenchman Bay. This is an extended 3-hour tour, and a $5 surcharge applies.
Trips run from Memorial Day to Labor Day! Book your trip now!
What’s the Difference Between the Two Trips?
The Dive-In Theater Trips are approximately 2-hour cruises that run daily, while the Park Ranger trips run twice each week, and are 3-hours long. The Diver Ed cruise is more interactive, while the Park Ranger tour includes a larger tour of Frenchman Bay and takes you to different locations in Acadia National Park, in search of seals, porpoise and eagles.
